Hysteria

One of the first “diseases” to be described formally was hysteria, diagnosed specifically in women.

Symptoms of this mental health condition included: chronic arousal, anxiety, erotic fantasy, irritability, excessive emotions, delirium and, coincidentally, vaginal lubrication.

Identical to sexual frustration/deprivation.

More than just a Def Leppard song, hysteria was a way to pathologize “everything that men found mysterious or unmanageable in women.”

Dating back to 1900 BC when it was believed the uterus moved about in the body, Hippocrates was the first to use the term. Originating from the word hystera (or womb), for 4,000 years men misinterpreted reality in this exclusively female disease which viewed women as inferior because they weren’t getting fucked properly!

Since men were uncomfortable with their inability to understand, honor and pleasure, they continued to wrongly accuse women for their understandably irritable nature.

This controversial condition was removed from medical diagnoses in 1952.

Ladies, has a man ever called you hysterical?

Satisfied women aren’t “bitches.”
