Down Dog

22805_10151091059665785_1472135037_nToday I am grateful for adhomukha svanasana (downward-facing dog). This exhilarating posture is so super cool! It’s practiced in most yoga classes around the world and why not? It’s awesome!

It brings us magnificent energy, calms our busy brain, slows the heart rate and stimulates our firing nerves. This is a brilliant foundational posture for elongating the spine, boosting circulation and proper digestion and stretching muscles in arms and legs.

Feet are placed parallel hip distance apart and hands are stretched out in front, fingers spread, pushing into the palms. Hips are gently rotated towards the sky and heels stretch toward the earth. Head and neck relaxed. Navel pulled to the spine. Breathe!

This pose rejuvenates the entire body! I will not take down-dog for granted today. I will relish each moment of it and allow any stress to simply melt off my back. Try it for a whole minute just for fun and surrender to every sensation that it brings!
